What is Early Childhood Screening?

Early childhood screening is a simple and careful check of your child’s health, well-being, and development. The results of the screening will help to identify needs that may require special attention before your child enters school. Through the process parents can discuss their concerns and find out about resources in the school and community. Early Childhood Screening is FREE.

Children will be screened in the following areas:

  • Speech, language, concepts, gross and fine motor skills
  • Vision and hearing
  • Height and weight
  • Immunizations

Minnesota requires all children complete Early Childhood Screening before entering kindergarten.
