Babysitting Clinic - Home Alone Safety Class is limited to 12 students. This is a 6 hour class for Boys and Girls in 5th grade or above. Learn basic safety/babysitting skills that will prepare you to stay home alone and be a dependable, capable babysitter when the time comes. Bike Safety 3rd grade and up. Must be a confident rider. This class is intended to teach the elements of bike safety, not a, learn to ride a bike class. The first session will be learning safety, the second will be going on a ride! Instructor: Asa Jacobs May 13th AND 20th 3:40pm-5:00pm

Candle Making Workshop with Riverside Soy Candles Lift your senses with a unique candle making experience. We’ll walk you through the entire creative process. Create either 1 large or 2 small 100% soy candles. You'll choose from our over 50 fragrances or blend a custom fragrance for your candle. Decorate your label and jar for your candle with provided art supplies. At the end of the class, you’ll have a custom candle(s) of your own to take home! Driver Improvement, 55+ Driver Discount Program Starting July 1st, 2024, there is no longer a requirement for an 8 hour initial course. It has been reduced to simply a 4 hour course requirement. This registration is for both initial people and those needing the refresher. Taught by a MN Hwy Safety Center trained instructor, it will explore changes in traffic laws, the latest vehicle technology, traffic safety, and accident prevention. Completion of this class qualifies for a 10% reduction on automobile insurance premiums in MN for those ages 55 and over. Please bring a pen or pencil. Also, feel free to bring a drink and snack to enjoy during class. Following My Spirit Home with Sam Zimmerman In cooperation with the Silver Bay Public Library! Inspired to reconnect with his Native heritage and to share it with others, artist Sam Zimmerman / Zhaawanoogiizhik returns home to family and his Ojibwe culture, and relates Ojibwe stories and underlying symbols through his artwork. Sam will also share an early preview of his work that he is doing in his Tettegouche State Park artist in residence. Kids Story Time & Art Class with Sam Zimmerman In cooperation with the Silver Bay Public Library! This treasured story, handed down through the Zimmerman family, features traditional knowledge from the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Grand Portage direct descendant Sam Zimmerman’s vibrant illustrations showcase his deep love and respect for feathered creatures. After reading the story, participants will paint an animal picture with Sam. All supplies provided. Best suited to ages 7+ but younger siblings can attend with family. Mindful Making: T-shirt Yarn and Crocheted Totes Do you have stained or ripped t-shirts? Or other clothing that holds sentimental value? Rather than adding to the 11 million tons of material sent to landfills, learn how to repurpose those items into something useful. Use mindful techniques to create t-shirt yarn and crochet baskets, totes, or hot pads. Bring a very sharp pair of scissors to cut material and a large crochet hook (N is best, but K-N would be acceptable).
