Build Your Own Boat – A Hands-On, Multigenerational Experience!

Courses - Two Harbors -
Spring/Summer 2026

Ever dreamed of building your own boat? Now’s your chance! In this fun, hands-on class, multigenerational teams will work together to learn the basics of boat building from the ground up.

Over four sessions, your team will construct a small craft (a small punt) to take home at the end of the course. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to learn, collaborate, and get your hands a little sawdusty.

This class focuses on foundational skills, and your finished project will be what we call a “lumberyard boat”—simple, practical, and built from readily available materials. While it may not be heirloom-quality, with proper care it will last for several seasons and give you plenty of time on the water.

Best of all, you’ll leave with the knowledge and confidence to build another boat on your own using materials of your choosing.

Your boat will be seaworthy when completed, though you’ll finish the final touches—like paint and hardware—on your own.

This activity is suitable for both young (Elementary age kids) and old. Sessions will last up to 3 hours depending on how fast you work to complete the session tasks. Some will finish much sooner.

If you’ve ever thought about building a boat, gather a mixed generational team of 2–5 friends or family, and jump in. It’s a unique experience you won’t forget!
