Making Sustainable Yarn from T-shirts/Crocheting w/Repurposed T-Shirt Yarn

Courses - Silver Bay -
Fall 2026

Do you have T-shirts that hold important clothing memories? Do you have old, stained, or ripped T-shirts that are adding to your closet clutter? Are you having difficulty finding reasonably priced yarn in your favorite colors? Learn simple techniques to turn an unwearable T-shirt into yarn to be used for crocheting, knitting, or weaving projects. Bring a very sharp pair of scissors and your T-shirts to be repurposed. Large cotton T-shirts work best, but any size, shape, or material will do, and the entire T-shirt will be converted. Some T-shirts and scissors are available to use during the session.

Did you know that 92 million tons of textiles are sent to global landfills each year? How do you reuse clothing? Create something new and beautiful by crocheting a sturdy journal bag or phone purse OR a small basket to hold toys for children or pets.  Bring a very sharp pair of scissors and a large crochet hook. (N is best, but any size above K is acceptable).
