For children Focused time with parents to learn and explore an early childhood environment Social skills developed in interaction with other young children in a rich environment Early identification of learning concerns Parents with positive parenting skills to promote healthy development For parents & families Support during the transition to parenthood Information on early development and what to expect from children Strategies for effective limit setting and teaching Time with other parents to reflect on family values and parenting practices Strategies for balancing work and family and managing stress. What should we expect at ECFE? When you arrive at a Mixed Age Session all teachers are present and the room is set with carefully planned activities for you & our children to enjoy together. After Parent & Child Time we will clean up and have a brief Circle Time to help children get to know each other’s names & develop literacy skills. After Circle Time the children will settle in for Snack & the parents will move to the parent room for discussion. During Parent Time, children will have more free play time in the classroom followed by cleanup time and a final Circle Time. Parents will return to the children’s room at the end of class. Please feel free to bring a comfort item that will help your child with separation, if needed.

  • Early Childhood Screening

    Early Childhood Screening is recommended at age 3 and required for all children before they enter kindergarten. Screening includes a quick check of a child's development, hearing and vision screening, height & weight and social emotional development. Resources and recommendations will be shared. Children need to complete Early Childhood Screening only once between the age of 3 and 5 years of age.

    Minnehaha School, Two Harbors Our preschools focus on building social emotional skills, literacy and language, physical and emotional wellness as well as preparing them to be part of our K-12 learning path. Our school based program provides the accommodations of the Minnehaha and William M Kelley schools. Learning in the school children will attend kindergarten allows time to become comfortable, learn the building and meet staff. Our objectives utilize developmentally appropriate activities which enhance a child's development. Play and interact with other children Relate to & follow directions from other adults Participate as a group member Enhance a child's creativity Stimulate a child intellectually Have fun! Registration is open. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see current class registration options. All registrations are pending until approved. If classes fill, a waiting list will be implemented. Please utilize the waiting list as enrollment may change. It is important to register if you are interested in 4's preschool for 2025-26. If/when spots become available, students are accepted from the waitlist in the order they registered. 2025 - 2026 School year Information: Little Agates Preschool 4's: Tuition = $280 4 days per week for 3 hours Registration fee = $50 Registration Requirements: Children must be 4 on Sept 1st, 2025 Children must be able to take care of toileting independently. Children must complete Early Childhood Screening before attending the Preschool 4’s program. Little Agates Preschool 3’s: Tuition = $210 3 days per week for 3 hours Registration fee = $50 Registration Requirements: Children must be 3 on Sept 1st, 2025 Children must be able to take care of toileting independently. Is paying for Preschool tuition a concern? We have several options to help. If your family is eligible for free or reduced lunch, you may qualify for a Pathway 1 Early Learning Scholarship or Pathway 2 Early Learning Scholarship which would cover 100% of tuition. Pathway 1 Early Learning Scholarship Pathway 2 Early Learning Scholarship You may be eligible for reduced tuition based on your family’s income. Income verification for the last 2 pay periods or last year’s income is required to determine where your family falls on our Sliding Fee Scale. Little Mariners Childcare Center Preschool 3’s: Register through Little Mariners Childcare. Registration is open year round. The preschool program for three year olds is now fully integrated into Little Mariners Child Care. Families interested in a three's preschool experience, but not necessarily needing care, should enroll in the preschool-age care program for half-day. Students are welcome to participate for the full morning section; however most of our curriculum based learning occurs between 8:00am - 12:00pm
